The Cal Poly Pier is not open to the public. This pier operates as a marine research facility. At 3000 feet long, it provides Cal Poly students, faculty and researchers with unrivaled access to the marine environment of the Central Coast.

Fisherman's Beach

If you're looking for a peaceful, secluded beach vibe, check out Fisherman's Beach. Located just west of the Avila Beach Dog Beach. The waters are calm and the harbor views don't disappoint. Sunbathe, swim or bodyboard, fish or launch kayaks and SUP boards from Fisherman's Beach. If water sports aren't your thing, bring a picnic lunch, lay down a blanket and enjoy the coastal bliss.

Fisherman’s Beach is near Port San Luis and the Harford Pier. Parking is free.

Olde Port Beach

If you're looking for a California beach that is less crowded, Olde Port Beach in Avila is the perfect spot. Olde Port Beach has a ramp from Avila Beach Drive down to the sand to drop off kayaks, SUP boards, and more. Parking is free and restrooms are available. Bonfire rings are available on a first come, first served basis available the second Sunday of March through the first Sunday of November.

Pirates Cove

Pirates Cove, also known as Mallagh Landing is located between Avila Beach and Pismo Beach’s shell beach area. Pirate’s Cove beach is a famous clothing-optional beach for the thrill-seekers who want really thorough tans.
